We are supporting the OPN MND 'Ton a Day' Challenge, which launched on the 1st November. OPN MND's founder, Phil, was diagnosed 3 years ago with Motor Neurone Disease. Over the past couple of years, he has worked with APEX NEURO, kicking off the ton a day challenge with APEX NEURO Founder and Lead Practitioner, Rob Cartwright (full video here)
"Without APEX, I wouldn't be able to lift a pencil, let alone a tonne a day." Phil credits APEX NEURO for keeping him mobile over the last couple of years since his diagnosis.
During the Ton a Day Challenge, Phil will lift a tonne of weight every day, representing the burden of the extra weight carried by those living with an MND diagnosis (including their carers and families). The funds raised will go towards the OPN MND project, which is a platform of informative, unbiased and open-minded content away from the mainstream palliative care options.
The OPN MND Project is dedicated to empowering individuals affected by motor neurone disease (MND) by sourcing and facilitating access to alternative treatments and therapies.
My name is Phil, and for the past three years, I’ve been navigating the challenges of motor neuron disease. Before my diagnosis, I was an active individual who lived every moment spent with my family. I’m blessed to have two wonderful daughters who light up my life and a loving wife, Nicki, who has been my unwavering support through this journey.
Despite the challenges, I have discovered a deeper purpose: to help others navigate their own journeys with motor neuron disease. I believe that we can find pathways through this illness that extend beyond the conventional, often negative, palliative care options presented by mainstream healthcare providers.
My mission is to empower others by sharing not just the struggles, but also the strategies, resources, and hope that can lead to a more fulfilling life, even in the face of adversity. Together, we can create a community that fosters resilience, support, and understanding, allowing us to find our way through this illness with dignity and strength.
