APEXNEURO

FND NEUROREHAB PROGRAMME

"THANK YOU HELPING ME WALK AGAIN.
I TURNED TO APEX NEURO AFTER COUNTLESS HEALTH PROVIDERS INCLUDING NEUROLOGISTS, RHEUMATOLOGISTS AND PHYSIOS COULD OFFER ME NOTHING OTHER THAN THE OPTION OF A WHEELCHAIR. YOU LOOKED BEYOND THE DIAGNOSIS AND TOWARDS THE PERSON AND THAT'S WHEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED.

THE COMBINATION OF LIFE CHANGING TECHNOLOGY AND TWO OF THE BRIGHTEST MINDS I'VE COME ACROSS SO FAR ON MY HEALTH JOURNEY OF SEVERAL YEARS, WHAT YOU WERE ABLE TO ACHIEVE SURPASSED MY WILDEST DREAMS & EXPECTATIONS."

Our program is designed to target the disrupted brain-body communication that manifests in an array of physical challenges, including:

  • Motor Functions: Walking, gait, getting up and down, stairs, drop foot, grip, hand and finger function and fine motor skills.

  • Limb Control and Weakness.

  • Spasticity, Dystonia, and Muscle Spasms:
Our specialised techniques work to alleviate the abnormal muscle tone, involuntary movements, and spasms that are common in FND.

  • Reduction in Seizures and Pain:
Our approach has shown to help reduce the frequency and severity of seizures.

  • Sensory Symptoms: From touch and temperature perception to overall sensory awareness, we help individuals with FND regain proper sensory feedback and proprioception.

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

Many of our clients have invested significant time, energy and hope into FND neurorehab programmes at top institutions, but have been left disappointed by lack of progress. Most have been on waiting lists for years for physiotherapy, or told there is 'nothing that can be done'.

Unlike traditional multidisciplinary approaches that tend to overemphasise the psychological aspects of FND, our programme focuses solely on improving signalling between the brain and the body. Our first-of-its-kind method delivers significant, sustainable improvements in abilities and quality of life, often in a much shorter time than other approaches.

OUR APPROACH

Our approach is based on understanding the neurological mechanisms linking to Functional Neurological Disorder. Many existing FND treatment programs rely heavily on an interdisciplinary model, focusing extensively on the psychological and behavioural aspects proposed to be linked to the condition. We've found that this approach often fails to adequately address the underlying neurological challenges faced by individuals with FND.

Instead, we take a technology-driven approach that addresses the core issue - the disruption in brain-body communication. Our programme places a strong emphasis on restoring the signalling (electrical impulses). Through the use of advanced technologies, we are able to mimic the natural pathways of communication, helping to "recalibrate" the disrupted communication.

HOW OUR PROGRAMME WORKS

Our FND programme begins with a consultation (we do not charge for this as we believe the right to explore your options should be accessible and not guarded behind a paywall) allowing us to understand more about your symptoms, experiences and goals, while giving you chance to ask questions and learn about our approach.

Unlike many programmes, we do not ask clients to be away from home for months at a time, for good reasons:

  • Being away from home for long periods adds significant strain to the individual and family, we want to minimise stress to improve outcomes.

  • Long stays are often costly, or require being hospitalised.

  • We simply do not need the same duration to achieve results.

Typically, our FND programme consists of 5-10 day intensives (3hr per day). These intensive periods are interspersed with breaks at home, allowing for integration of regained functions into daily life. On average, our FND clients need between 1 and 3 intensives, although this varies person to person. We find FND to often be the fastest responding condition we work with. As needed, clients return for subsequent (often shorter) intensives. Our overarching goal is full rehabilitation - no reliance on us or the technology.

We offer a Remote Support Programme to bridge the gap between intensives and help clients maintain progress. For more information on this please contact us.

For local clients, we offer the option of completing the programme through weekly visits.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

"Thank you helping me walk again... I turned to APEX NEURO after countless health providers in Ireland including neurologists, rheumatologists and physios could offer me nothing other than the option of a wheelchair. FND and Neurological Lyme Disease were a complex set of diagnosis to present with but it didn't deter either of you for even a moment. You looked beyond the diagnosis and towards the person and that's when the magic happened and trust was built."

"The combination of life changing technology and two of the brightest minds I've come across so far on my health journey of several years, what you were able to achieve in 4 short weeks surpassed my wildest dreams and expectations. Thank you for helping my regain my confidence in my body's strength and ability and providing me with a framework that I can now implement at home to continue strengthening the neural pathways and mind muscle connection. I hope others in a seemingly hopeless situation that have 'no cure' find their way to APEX NEURO."

"Thank you both from the bottom of my heart for my Christmas miracle. We had so much fun along the way, together we can! Just home and put up and decorated the Christmas tree on my own for the first time in years and years, the joy was indescribable."

"I was diagnosed with FND 4 years ago, it took my confidence, my independence and the person I was. I have always been determined but after being told if my falls and way of life continued the only way forward was to be in a wheelchair. At 31 years old with 2 young children I was struggling to be the mum and fiance I wanted to be. At first I was skeptical - I've been told by numerous neurologists that nothing can be done. All I can say is WOW I wish I'd found APEX NEURO sooner."

"So today I took a massive step of courage and went out for dinner practising feeding myself and being able to hold my cutlery! I cried my way through but this time happy tears. First time in years I've managed to eat some food without being assisted, you have no idea how much this means to me, you guys are just incredible."

"Yesterday I was able to feel how soft my sons skin was for the first time in a VERY long time, and I've just been able to sit and eat breakfast with my youngest son, it's almost definitely the smallest things that make such a huge difference."
