Gait freezing / start stop hesitation in Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)

Gait freezing and start/stop hesitation is common with FND - typically when anxiety peaks, or changing surface. Lynn found she frequently froze in doorways or when crossing a threshold.

Intensive 1 - Lynn’s walking improved with help from the electrical stimulation

Intensive 2 - Walking without help from the machines: The goal with FND is to reach a point where the machines are no longer needed.

One of the primary challenges Lynn has faced with her FND is a freezing response, especially when under pressure. Laura starts by working through specific areas in Lynn’s body to understand responses and patterns associated to her FND.

Laura and Lynn begin walking independently with just coaching, re-learning how to turn, shift her weight and cross the threshold, changing surfaces and practice regaining control over involuntary movements.
