Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) - Regaining control in both sides of the body at APEX NEURO

One of the major challenges when working towards resolution of Functional Neurological Disorder is the variety of ways symptoms present (and also change or vary across time). Often, clients with Functional Neurological Disorder find each side is affected differently (the same can be true for the upper and lower body).

Leanne has good control on one side - when she wants to contract the core muscle she can do this easily and voluntarily without any issue. However, the other side is a different story. When she tries to contact her core, there is a ‘resistance’, which can also result in increased tremors. Having uninhibited voluntary control in the whole body is very important. Unlike conditions that effect the ‘hardware’ of the body like Multiple Sclerosis, HSP and Motor Neurone Disease, there often isn’t a clear or obvious explanation as to why specific areas are affected. Luke and Leanne’s goal for this session is to help her achieve voluntary control in the core on both sides. She’s using her strong side to help ‘mirror’ and guide her brain towards producing the correct movement. Interestingly, and not an uncommon experience with FND, she can feel when she’s getting closer to achievement the movement - then it happens! This is a huge step in the right direction towards complete control over her body!
