Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) real-world rehabilitation - “I cant remember the last time I walked to the shop”
3 days together and Luke and Caroline were able to progress not just to walking outside (taking on all the external stimulus such as the cold which previously caused Caroline to convulse) but to walk together to the shop which was a monumental achievement in just a few days work. We are doing this all without any devices, just through coaching.
The 2 days before this amazing achievement, Luke and Caroline had worked hard to understand her FND, investigating her physiological patterns and triggers. Luke then worked his magic helping her body and brain to begin to communicate more effectively and change these patterns, at first in the controlled clinic environment, then out into the real world where usual challenges like temperature, noise, dangers such as crossing the road which previously triggered her into being unable to navigate these daily activities.
Caroline has sent us some incredible updates on her progress, progressing back to life as it used to be.
We are hugely proud of the work this team did and what this means for Caroline’s independence and quality of life moving forward!
