Transverse Myelitis - Improved muscle control → improved walking
Transverse Myelitis Intensive Rehab at APEX NEURO - From improving muscle control → improving walking.
Kasthuri travelled from Canada to work with APEX NEURO after feeling let down by options for Transverse Myelitis rehab back home. After some initial work, several areas of her body respond quickly, but the glutes are more stubborn. Improving the muscle response and control in this area is very worth investing time into as they are so important to walking and stability.
Kasthuri usually uses a walking aid, which can provide some balance, but their goal is to work towards walking independently with balance and power. During the first week of the intensive, Kasthuri is walking independently but needs more control. The second week focuses on building that control - helping Kasthuri replicate the contraction WITHOUT help from the electrical current.
These processes take time and repetition and there is of course work left to do - Kasthuri will continue this via the Remote Support Programme back home in Canada 🇨🇦
