Multiple Sclerosis - Falklands to the UK for a 10-Day Intensive | What’s possible in 10 days at APEX NEURO? Jorge and Susan travelled from the Falkland Islands to the UK to continue work began last November. Jorge, a Spanish-speaker, benefits from Susan’s translation, and Laura was able to use a translation app to assist communication further. With clients from all around the world, it’s normal for our team to be working across multiple languages, however some help from technology definitely makes getting across all the information we share a lot easier!
Having worked with Jorge before, Laura uses information from their last visit plus all the feedback we’ve had from the Remote Support programme to decide how is best to use their time during their 10 day visit. In areas like the hip flexors, there’s a marked improvement - Jorge begins to demonstrate improved control and is able to lift his leg more independently and several times in a row. With this improved function, they are able to focus more on walking. Laura begins by coaching Jorge using his familiar walking aid, so she can help him understand the mechanics of walking in a way that’s comfortable to him.
With good progress, hey begin to practice with no aids at all. Jorge completes many laps of the clinic, showing great progress from not only where he was when we saw him in November 2025, but where he was at the start of this recent 10-day intensive. Laura’s Spanish also improved, in spite of her slightly unusual pronunciations.
