Multiple Sclerosis - First Time Lifting His Foot in 5 years! Improving Drop Foot For people who’ve not experienced a loss of muscle control or don’t live with neurodegenerative conditions, it’s difficult to understand what a big, emotional moment this is. After years of decline and not being able to move his foot, this is the moment Connor begins to regain control in his foot - a huge achievement! Connor’s progressive MS means his leg muscles have spent with limited movement, and there was a possibility that gaining a response could have taken time. However, during his first visit, we were able to achievement movement, which is so exciting. The electrical current helps generate a both sensation in the foot, which has been dormant for a long time.
Laura throws out a “shot in the dark” - let’s see if Connor can do the movement after 5 years of not being able to… And he could! This is a mindset our whole team adopts - “let’s see” rather than an assumption of “can’t” which is the traditional narrative for Multiple Sclerosis. And moments like this prove why that mindset is so important.
You can see how much it means to all of us, and especially Connor. But the best part is that it wasn’t just once - it was several times. Being able to do it once after a long period of rest is great, but being able to replicate it and do it multiple times more means a greater step forward to being able to do this voluntarily - the foundations for walking. They may joke that the session is done, but they’re just getting started. Keep an eye out for an upcoming video showing much more that Connor managed to achieve while working with APEX NEURO - and how he is defying the traditional MS narrative!
