Multiple Sclerosis Progress: Intensive Rehab at APEX NEURO

“You’ve taken a huge step forward in the right direction.” Multiple Sclerosis Progress | Intensive Rehab at APEX NEURO

Luke is working with Lorraine again after working with her previously during an intensive rehab programme for Multiple Sclerosis at APEX NEURO. Lorraine has been an A* student on the Remote Support Programme since her last visit, making significant progress. As she’s worked so hard, Luke is able to move onto more complex goals - like sit-to-stands.

After completing initial work on her muscles using e-stim, Luke tries to get Lorraine standing from a low height (we always want to challenge our clients), but adapts the height and coaches Lorraine so that she’s able to start standing independently. She starts to do this without any help from the electrical stimulation, or support from Luke, and the process becomes more fluid and easier - at one point, mid-sentence, she does one of the smoothest stands she’s done!

We can’t emphasise enough how much the work outside of the programme can impact what’s possible while at APEX NEURO - with Multiple Sclerosis, staying stable is an achievement (given the degenerative nature of the condition) - but we are working towards PROGRESS between visits. Lorraine has been so consistent on her electrical stimulation, training and using the gym, that she has propelled her progress forward. This means when Luke gets to work with her again, they are in an even better position than where they left off last time! Luke and Lorraine say they’re going to do walking in 6 weeks from this moment - and they did: keep an eye out for that video coming up!
