APEX NEURO Updates: A Statement on International FND Cases

After careful review, we have made the operational decision to no longer accept international cases of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).

FND presentations, nuances and causes vary significantly from person to person, and programme length and scheduling need to reflect that variability. In our opinion, the only viable way to approach FND is first with an in-person assessment, requiring at least one visit to the UK before a programme can even be scoped — and even then, this doesn't always guarantee the clarity needed to plan effective, well-structured support.

Given the costs involved in international travel, and the logistical significance of multiple trips overseas, this has on occasion led to unreasonable expectations of our clinic and practitioners to produce results within unrealistic timeframes.

Our Remote Support Programme, which allows us to offer continued support at a distance, continues to work well for many of our international clients with other conditions — but it is not well suited to FND, given the complexity and variability of the condition.

Based on this, we have taken the operational decision to no longer accept clients based outside of the UK for FND programmes.

We appreciate this may be disappointing news. However, it is important to us as a business to operate within our scope and capacity, support our staff, set reasonable expectations, and follow procedures we are confident in. For all those this news may impact, the APEX NEURO team thanks you for your understanding and interest in working with us.
