Multiple Sclerosis - Building Strength
Chicago-based 🇬🇧 Ashley saw our results with Multiple Sclerosis and reached out for what turned out to be a very successful 8 days together, including LEARNING TO RUN AGAIN! (video on our profile) As Ashley is located a SIGNIFICANT distance from the APEX NEURO clinic (UK to Chicago!) we needed to prepare her with knowledge and methods to continue the work at home.
One of the big components of our Remote Support Programme revolves around building strength and muscle, so Rob spent some time taking Ashley to the gym to show her how to train in a way that is most beneficial for her condition and symptoms. The work completed during the other days (using a specific type of electrical stimulation) helped Ashley to control and contract the muscles significantly better than when she arrived, meaning she was safe and ready to use many different machines at the gym.
In the gym, amplifying the contraction means Ashley can better focus on what she’s looking to replicate at home, and allows Rob to work on addressing imbalances in her legs caused by MS, giving the weaker side the support it needed. The whole while, Rob is doing what he does very well - coaching and encouraging. Ashley’s face at the end says it all: they’re working hard, but achieving big things together!
