Multiple Sclerosis - Former Champion Learns To RUN Again 🏆 Bec used to be the fastest in her county but MS decline prevented her from running - until now. Followers might recognise Bec from previous videos, showing the first steps we took towards achieving this huge goal.
After significantly improving her walking, gait and balance, Bec returned to APEX NEURO for a one-off session (a sort of “top up”) and ended up achieving a whole lot more again. After assessing her walking, Luke could see that Bec had been working hard at home (she’s a good student!) and had shown such an improvement that it was time for the next challenge - one that Bec might make look easy in this video, but for someone who previously found it challenging to walk, and hasn’t run for years with MS is an AMAZING accomplishment: running.
Luke first breaks the individual steps down, essentially how to take hopping from side-to-side can to eventually become streamlined into running. Bec isn’t the first client we’ve taught to run again, but she has some serious speed that is a first (and takes all of us, including Bec, by surprise!) Beforehand, when she tried it, it was like she was running in slow-motion or through water. But here, through hard work and coaching, she’s getting some good mph up and down the corridor. This is a big step towards Bec getting to the life she had before Multiple Sclerosis. Paralympics in LA 2028, maybe? 👀
