Multiple Sclerosis Intensive Rehab - Posture While Walking
Multiple Sclerosis Intensive Rehab - Upright posture and control when walking
Gillian travels from Ireland intermittently to work with the APEX NEURO team intensively with the goals of improving her mobility which has declined due to Multiple Sclerosis. Two areas of focus are on improving Gillian’s control in steps and stability when walking, and maintaining an upright posture. Gillian has worked diligently on our Remote Support Programme between her visits to the UK which has build strength and control in the background.
We often describe this as a ‘relay race’ - we do some work, then hand the ‘baton’ to the client. We have built our approach to function as a team effort, rather than clients relying solely on us - we want to educate and give the tools to be autonomous and make progress outside of the work in the clinic.
During the last intensive, we used support from the wall to help Gillian maintain focus on her control in the step and driving through, and to help keep her upright. This time, she’s able to progress to doing both of these parts independently.
