How did Rebekah unlock smoother muscle movements in just five days? (Reducing spasticity for Multiple Sclerosis)

When Rebekah started her 5-day Multiple Sclerosis intensive at APEX NEURO, severe MS muscle tightness (spasticity) in her foot acted like an immediate roadblock, triggering a chain reaction up her entire leg every time it was stimulated. Erin’s starts with essential prep-work before tackling larger movements. Erin began by removing the spasticity in her quads, before using an electrically-conductive glove to stimulate the nerves on the sole of her foot, directly lowering the reactive spasticity.

To help her eventually clear the ground and step safely, she first needed to gain control over that single foot. By the end of the week, she successfully calmed that overactive reflex, unlocking the next stages needed to help build her mobility back up.

When this improved, Erin can shift the focus to gaining more control in the muscles for the remainder of the intensive. Rebekah will need this to be able to control the muscles in activities like sit-to-stands, walking and stairs. When working with Multiple Sclerosis, we need to take it step-by-step - working on specific areas first to help ‘unlock’ progress in the next areas.
