What has Erin & Nicola high-fiving during Intensive Multiple Sclerosis rehab?
Nicola travelled from The Netherlands to work with APEX NEURO for a Multiple Sclerosis Intensive, with the goal of improving her walking following Multiple Sclerosis decline. After foundational work with the e-stim to improve Nicola’s muscle control, Erin introduces a new way for Nicola to think about walking. It’s a lot to deconstruct your approach to walking and then re-establish it, so Erin gets Nicola to slow right down, so they can improve areas like weight distribution and gait before speeding up.
As they practice, not only does Nicola’s execution of the mechanics improve, but her trust in her own legs starts to increase - it’s no surprise that the two can go hand-in-hand. By the end of this walking session, she’s achieving controlled, stable walking.
The next day, after some work on the tibia to promote better (clearing the floor with her foot). In the neurorehab process, every time you add a new element, it can throw off the previous work as the focus moves to something else, but Nicola quickly manages to implement it ALONGSIDE everything else. “10-10” - and we’re thrilled to hear about Nicola’s new future in dance!
