Breaking habits in Multiple Sclerosis when re-learning to walk - one of the ways Claire has felt “safer” has been crossing her legs during walking (often this happens as the signalling is weakened in MS) and this pattern of walking has become familiar.
Laura breaks down the mechanics and how Claire needs to shift out of these habits (they worked on improving the connection to these areas previously) to give her more stability, taking wider steps a little more to the side and minimising the legs crossing over. Claire’s walking becomes more fluid, more stable and eventually quicker as she gets used to Laura’s edits.
All of this is without electrical stimulation- just coaching!
