Multiple Sclerosis (15+ years): Learning to stand independently!

Part 1 - we built the foundations (improving brain-body communication) so Judy now has improved connection and control over her muscles despite many years of MS progression. After ticking these boxes, Judy and Luke have been able to move to Part 2 - relying less on the electrical stimulation and teaching Judy how to use her muscles effectively again. Our overarching goals with Multiple Sclerosis clients is not to rely on the machines.

As Judy starts practising standing and how to gain the power to lift from the bed, she falls into old patterns that have become habitual (her brain has done this in response to the weakening communication as a means to stand when it couldn’t recruit the correct muscles as effectively) — but with coaching Luke is able to help her understand how to position her body so she can stand independently with so much more ease and begin using the correct form again.

They key to our success is not just the technologies we use, but our team’s ability to build strategies and coach client’s so they are able to start changing old patterns. Standing independently after 15+ years of Multiple Sclerosis progression is a BIG goal and worth every high five along the way!
